My first and favourite novel. On one tragic night, Kayla Martin’s life is turned upside down when she is attacked by her her boyfriend. A year later she is struggling to pick up the pieces of her life, while also struggling with the knowledge that she will never be safe while her attacker -freed from his too-short prison sentence – walks free on the streets. An encounter with two mysterious strangers leads her into a new life that may – or may not – lead to her salvation.

Originally this began as a story that I was writing in High School. My three friends and I were all characters and we role-played scenes that I wrote into the novel – or acted scenes that I had already written. As I developed my writing skills, the original story became far too complex, so I split it in three ways. I’ve spent a lot of time on J, the first of the three stories since then and I am very proud of it. My main character is a young princess who faces a massive betrayal – and must fight back in order to do what is right for the people of her homeland.

This is my 2008 NaNoWriMo novel – it was my first ever attempt at doing NaNo and I was proud to get to just over 34, 000 words. This one is also a fantasy novel and features a young noblewomen whose life is saved by a family of three centaurs after attackers attack and kill her family. I’d always wanted to write a story with centaurs and for my first try, I think it’s not too bad.
